The team behind the award winning Two Thirds Beer Co. on Abbeydale Road had an ambitious vision for a new Sheffield city centre beerhall to rival other prominent UK drink destinations.

Voted the beer capital of the world, Sheffield deserved a destination beer hall fit for that title – and the idea for Kapital was born. A Euro-inspired beer hall and restaurant within Sheffield’s prominent Heart of the City development promises to be the new centre of European drinking and dining, with a focus on serving fresh, unpasteurised tank beer all the way from the iconic Budvar brewery.

Two Thirds Beer Co. approached us to develop a confident brand identity and interior concept that communicates a bold Euro-style drink and dining destination, worthy of UK-wide and European attention. We collaborated closely from initial research discussions and creative territory exploration to the final interior concepts and brand deliverables.

Placing beer at the centre of proceedings, the interior is based around four large stainless steel beer tanks where fresh Budvar Czech lager will be delivered weekly. Design inspiration is taken from the strong colours and font associated with Europe of the past.

The resulting identity balances cocktail bar and beer hall aesthetic to form a distinct visual style, positioning Kapital as the go-to drink and dining destination in the heart of Sheffield.
