Following on from the success of Domo Sheffield, Domo Leeds is a “glamorous big sister” to the original Sardinian restaurant in Kelham Island. Celebrated for its authentic Sardinian flavours, Domo unites local, fresh produce from Yorkshire with the spirit of the small town of Castelsardo, where the family owners are from.

Our interiors team first took on the initial task of embedding Sardinian culture in the heart of Sheffield’s industrial heritage, before coming on board once more for Domo at Tower Works, Leeds - transforming an empty, concrete shell through layered materials, texture and detail.

Vital to the restaurant design is a bar in the centre of the space, creating an impactful welcome as a focal point. Character is found through textured paint and the addition of decorative ceiling mouldings, drawing the eye upwards. Materiality has been carefully considered throughout the design, including red concrete and tiled flooring, tiled tabletops and a red scalloped timber bar front.

Working with shop-fitters HANDS allowed our team to create several unique pieces to really bring the restaurant to life. Mirroring the Sheffield venue, Domo Leeds features a bespoke, round family table with a large olive tree in the centre, while banquette seating blends seamlessly with the architecture, elevating the space from a blank canvas to a welcoming environment with interesting features reflecting Domo’s brand personality.

Several elements come directly from Sardinia: on the walls are handwoven plates crafted in Sardinia, alongside artwork created by a friend from the island. A bespoke mural depicts a family friend’s hands weaving baskets, and cushions were also sourced straight from Sardinia. Together, these elements bring authenticity to the restaurant and connect the owners – Raffa & Sarah – personally with the space.  

The final design is vibrant, bold, authentic, and rich in pattern and handcrafted details. Only a few weeks after opening its doors, Domo Leeds has quickly established itself as a lively dining destination, busy throughout the day and night, bringing a touch of Sardinian sunshine to the streets of Leeds, and by the waters edge.
