We're looking for a Digital Designer to join our design studio in Sheffield.

About us

We're a successful and established design studio based in Sheffield that has grown organically since 2005.

Our team is made up of 15 creatives, specialising in interior design and architecture, brand and digital. Our studio is housed within a building called The Mowbray, a former steel and iron merchants built in 1889.

The neighbourhood - Kelham Island, was rated as one of the 'coolest neighbourhoods in the UK' by Time Out magazine and includes a mix of independent bakeries, breweries, coffee shops, restaurants and bars all within a short walking distance of our studio.

The opportunity

The Digital Designer is a new role within 93, but one which is key to handling our strong pipeline of varied design work. Working either on a full time, or four day week basis, the Digital Designer will take total ownership of their responsibilities and will work closely with the web team to see projects through from start to finish. Taking into account clients needs and communicating the vision to the relevant parties in order to bring designs to life will be a key priority. Core duties will include:

  • Gaining a thorough understanding of differing Client requirements and understanding how they fit into the big picture
  • Working well with Google Analytics data to back up your design ideas with research and presenting these in a manner which is effective
  • Developing compelling user journeys and stories including the theory and rationale behind it
  • Creating wireframes, sitemaps and prototypes to communicate interaction and design ideas
  • Presenting ideas and solutions verbally and visually to Clients and Prospects in a way which is engaging and encourages buy in
  • Creating user-friendly, responsive designs across different devices
  • Communicating your design ideas effectively to colleagues
  • Working collaboratively with the team to deliver entire projects from start to finish
  • Managing and implementing client feedback on designs
  • Supporting the development team in bringing your designs to life

We are open to the role being either 4 or 5 days per week. Our team primarily works in the studio 5 days a week because it is a collaborative and creative environment. We are happy to offer this role on a hybrid working pattern if required. If you were to join full time on 5 days per week, we can be flexible for those days to be split across being in the studio and working from home (4 and 1, or 3 and 2 - TBD) if desired.

Required skills

  • A deep understanding of UX / UI design and principles
  • Experience with website design software such as Adobe XD and/or Figma
  • Strategy and research skills
  • Ensure websites are designed with SEO best practises in mind
  • Excellent client relationship management skills and experience
  • Communication skills, both verbal and written

Desirable skills

  • Experience with designing for e-commerce platforms (e.g. Shopify)
  • Ability to interpret Google Analytics to inform design decisions
  • Ability to create supporting content for clients, for example creating graphics in various Adobe software
  • Video editing
  • Email marketing design

Whilst great to have, we are willing to support the development of these skills where appropriate.

In return

  • Salary £30,000 - £35,000 depending on experience (pro rata)
  • 93 is an Employee Owned company (EOT), meaning you'll automatically be part of the employee ownership trust
